DXMD trophy Fresh out of the Package

The Net is Vast and Infinite is a secret achievement/trophy in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. It is unlocked by using Jim Miller's NSN and not triggering any alarms.

Overview[]

This achievement can be unlocked during MM9: Checking Out the Men in Charge when Adam Jensen infiltrates the Neural SubNet using Director Jim Miller's avatar. In order to fulfill the achievement requirements, the player must successfully download intel from all data towers without being fully detected by any security camera, tripping a laser trap or failing any remote hack.

While it may sound like a lot, the actual process is surprisingly straightforward as three out of five data towers are placed out in the open, without any security measures to guard them. The laser traps are only placed around one data tower that can be bypassed by remote hacking a server block to use as a step ladder, then dropping down from a hole in the ceiling directly above it. There are also many vents the player can exploit to maneuver around the cameras and server blocks can be remote hacked to block their view.

Once all data towers have been downloaded from, a cutscene will play and the achievement will unlock, provided no alarms were tripped beforehand.

Trivia[]

  • The achievement name and image are a reference to the anime series Ghost in the Shell, notably the classic 1995 movie. The achievement name is the quote that the protagonist Motoko Kusanagi says at the end of the film, whilst the design, location, and layout of ports closely match interfaces seen in the series.
  • The achievement's picture depicts Motoko's neck seen from behind.
