Great job and change small thingsEdit

Excellent work ;), I'll just change 3 small things. Already Deus Ex and Deus Ex: Invisible War should be first Deus Ex: Human Revolution. In addition in future, for each page displayed on the home, for example "Items" and "Weapons", I create their own page and then put their own page when it is done instead of category page. Also, title images are not transparent or background color, I'll do it.

Add news too but I don't know how but it should not be complicated =). And correct some mistake, Area 51 doesn't appears in Deus Ex: Invisible War for example.

Otherwise I say again, great job! Itachou [~talk~] 18:22, January 25, 2011 (UTC)

Like I said earlier, there will be improvements (including news) but it will take some time. Specially because DA2s' launching day is getting near I have to spend some time with Admin work in DA Wiki. -- Snfonseka 18:49, January 25, 2011 (UTC)

No problem ;). I'm the most active admin and contributor of the Wiki and CAM2 entrusted to me personally, so don't worry if I change some stuff from here and there but you've already done a huge work, I'm publish the news, you can go for rest for now =)! Ha also, press to play the new Dragon Age! I already preordered =)! Itachou [~talk~] 19:00, January 25, 2011 (UTC)

Voila, first news published ;)! Also, I think the "Quotes emplacement" and the "News emplacement" should be inverted, for a fast acces of the news and a better emplacement, what do you think? Itachou [~talk~] 22:17, January 25, 2011 (UTC)

What has happened to the "Quotes" portal section? -- Snfonseka 18:30, January 27, 2011 (UTC)

Finally not, it's very well like that, no change. After reflection, it's suitable for this homepage template type ;). Itachou [~talk~] 00:10, January 30, 2011 (UTC)

I have a question: why the infobox template for the 3 DEX games and locations of HR are unvailable? Someone delete the template?--Elpeppo87 13:20, February 8, 2011 (UTC)

Looks like Itachou had fun with them. Too bad the infoboxes are so spaghetti-coded. I'll try to do something.--Nathan2000 01:48, February 10, 2011 (UTC)

Are you sure it's me? I don't remind deleting anything in the main page templates. Itachou [~talk~] 12:08, February 14, 2011 (UTC)

This is the infobox those pages used. You moved it and deleted the redirect, I have no idea why.--Nathan2000 16:02, February 19, 2011 (UTC)

Ha yes, an infobox which served for Deus Ex: Human Revolution characters, moved since the Wiki has already an characters infobox, no need two, but the infobox was interesting so I renamed this and keep in the shadow. Finally, this infobox is the " Organisation Infobox ", so no deleting ;). Itachou [~talk~] 18:49, February 19, 2011 (UTC)

Hi, I propose we change the weapon infobox parameter of "Clip Size" to "Base Capacity" Edit

Going through some of the articles I noticed that "clip size" is the phrase used to denote ammo capacity. Maybe it's a really small nitpick, but no featured weapons in the Deus Ex games use "clips." Clips are technically pieces of metal that simply hold (or clip) bullets together, but have no mechanical function of their own in the loading of a firearm. The pistols, rifles, and shotguns use magazines (Using the words clip and magazine interchangably with gun users, will get you talked down by them.), the flamethrowers use fuel canisters, the cattle prods uses batteries.

Furthermore, the numbers listed are set in and inflexible. For example the pistol entry is set at 6. In the games you could modify the weapon's ammunition capacity. The number six is only the base capacity. Maybe it's a small nitpick, but think about it.The Youth Counselor 13:24, March 5, 2011 (UTC)

Just thinking out loud, but in my opinion there should be a link to the timeline page somewhere on the front page.

News nonsense Edit

What leaked wasn't a "first level", it's the press preview many gaming sites based their previews on back in April and May; it's advertised as about ten hours long. While it's true that the "first level"(which is actually the Prologue) is linear and features no augmentations, there are many channels which show way beyond that. Leaked betaEdit

If you have played the leaked beta, feel free to make articles about it, just be sure to put spoiler warnings where appropriate. Dorgles 18:56, June 8, 2011 (UTC)

Countdown Template?Edit

I was considering making a template counting down the days until Human Revolutions US release, but the template is not on the wiki and Im not sure how to make one. Any Ideas? Dorgles 18:31, June 15, 2011 (UTC)

You need to add some code to MediaWiki:Common.js to enable the countdown feature. Unfortunately, only admins can do it. Let me know if there's an admin here that'll do it and I'll post the code. --Klock101 15:03, June 16, 2011 (UTC)
Didn't realise that you were an admin. Head over to the MediaWiki:Common.js page and copy and paste the code below to the bottom of it.
// **************************************************
// Experimental javascript countdown timer (Splarka)
// Version 0.0.3
// **************************************************
//
// Usage example:
//  <span class="countdown" style="display:none;">
//  Only <span class="countdowndate">January 01 2007 00:00:00 PST</span> until New years.
//  </span>
//  <span class="nocountdown">Javascript disabled.</span>

function updatetimer(i) {
  var now = new Date();
  var then = timers[i].eventdate;
  var diff = count=Math.floor((then.getTime()-now.getTime())/1000);

  // catch bad date strings
  if(isNaN(diff)) {
    timers[i].firstChild.nodeValue = '** ' + timers[i].eventdate + ' **' ;
    return;
  }

  // determine plus/minus
  if(diff<0) {
    diff = -diff;
    var tpm = 'T plus ';
  } else {
    var tpm = 'T minus ';
  }

  // calcuate the diff
  var left = (diff%60) + ' seconds';
    diff=Math.floor(diff/60);
  if(diff > 0) left = (diff%60) + ' minutes ' + left;
    diff=Math.floor(diff/60);
  if(diff > 0) left = (diff%24) + ' hours ' + left;
    diff=Math.floor(diff/24);
  if(diff > 0) left = diff + ' days ' + left
  timers[i].firstChild.nodeValue = tpm + left;

  // a setInterval() is more efficient, but calling setTimeout()
  // makes errors break the script rather than infinitely recurse
  timeouts[i] = setTimeout('updatetimer(' + i + ')',1000);
}

function checktimers() {
  //hide 'nocountdown' and show 'countdown'
  var nocountdowns = getElementsByClassName(document, 'span', 'nocountdown');
  for(var i in nocountdowns) nocountdowns[i].style.display = 'none'
  var countdowns = getElementsByClassName(document, 'span', 'countdown');
  for(var i in countdowns) countdowns[i].style.display = 'inline'

  //set up global objects timers and timeouts.
  timers = getElementsByClassName(document, 'span', 'countdowndate');  //global
  timeouts = new Array(); // generic holder for the timeouts, global
  if(timers.length == 0) return;
  for(var i in timers) {
    timers[i].eventdate = new Date(timers[i].firstChild.nodeValue);
    updatetimer(i);  //start it up
  }
}
addOnloadHook(checktimers);

// **************************************************
// - end - Experimental javascript countdown timer
// **************************************************
Then use Ctrl+F5 to clear your browser's cache and head back to this page, and the template below should work.

Awesome. The template works fine, and I added it to the front page. Thanks for the help. Dorgles 17:55, June 16, 2011 (UTC)

The script currently doesn't know the difference between singular and plural. I recommend replacing the appropriate lines with

  // calcuate the diff
  var left = (diff%60) + ' second' + ((diff%60) !== 1 ? 's' : '');
    diff=Math.floor(diff/60);
  if(diff > 0) left = (diff%60) + ' minute' + ((diff%60) !== 1 ? 's ' : ' ') + left;
    diff=Math.floor(diff/60);
  if(diff > 0) left = (diff%24) + ' hour' + ((diff%60) !== 1 ? 's ' : ' ') + left;
    diff=Math.floor(diff/24);
  if(diff > 0) left = diff + ' day' + ((diff%60) !== 1 ? 's ' : ' ') + left;

Modulo ops and concatenations are very cheap, so performance isn't an issue. —Shidou T/C 21:40, August 5, 2011 (UTC)

New Featured Image/Video? Edit

Since we hit our 500th page, is anyone interested in making more featured images or changing the video? We have been using the same ones for a while now.Dorgles 05:08, July 31, 2011 (UTC)

Wordmark Edit

An administrator should use the Wikia theme designer to upload a wordmark for more aesthetically pleasing cross-wiki navigation. You may wish to use File:Wiki-wordmark-temp.png and delete it afterwards. —Shidou T/C 21:22, August 5, 2011 (UTC)

What exactly were you thinking of? I'd be glad to fix it, so long as there are enough solid ideas; personally I think the current one is ok, but it would Be Neat to make One in the human revolution gold Font, or One in deus ex title screen style (though itd Be difficult and it may Not work with the hr esque Theme we have right now.) Dorgles 22:29, August 5, 2011 (UTC)
The current wordmark is text, not an image, so it doesn't look right when juxtaposed to other Wikia wordmarks (for example, [1]). I originally thought about using the image I uploaded and linked above, but a friend of mine tried to make a decent logo: [2]. If you like it, I can convert it to the appropriate wordmark resolution and background colour. —Shidou T/C 01:42, August 6, 2011 (UTC)
I really like that second one, but its too big. I'd set the first one, but I can't from this phone. I could either do it tomorrow, or you could ask elpeppo, ironintheskin or itachou tonight. Dorgles 03:18, August 6, 2011 (UTC)
Can your friend resize it to 260x35? Id love to set it to the wordmark when it's ready. Dorgles 00:04, August 7, 2011 (UTC)
I've resized it for you. -S- 00:42, August 7, 2011 (UTC)
where is the new image? Thanks. Dorgles 01:43, August 7, 2011 (UTC)
Here you go, http://deusex.wikia.com/wiki/File:Dxwimageresized.png -S- 02:02, August 7, 2011 (UTC)
 : 260x35? What was I thinking? I meant 250x65, but thanks, I just resized yours. It looks a little iffy but its better than just text. Dorgles 17:59, August 7, 2011 (UTC)
[3] My friend said he was going to work on it some more because I didn't like the sharp angles on the 'W', but he hasn't gotten back to me for a while so I'll just give you that for now. The background colour matches, and the font doesn't look as distorted. —Shidou T/C 02:25, August 8, 2011 (UTC)
I don't know why the background colour darkened, so here is a wordmark with a transparent one. —Shidou T/C 14:12, August 8, 2011 (UTC)

New Background Edit

I was wondering if anyone else wanted to change the background of the wiki from that simple black we have right now to some kind of image. This is only an example, but what do you think of [4]? Do you like it? Do you prefer the current one? Do you like the idea, with different images? --Dorgles 07:19, August 9, 2011 (UTC)

Anything is better than pitch black, I say. Though a contrast between yellow-blue is kind of meh. Not saying that we shouldn't have JC showcased there, but it breaks the dark-gold theme of the site. -S- 14:10, August 9, 2011 (UTC)

Maybe theres a better image of jc? Dorgles 14:28, August 9, 2011 (UTC)

I've always like this one http://screenshots.filesnetwork.com/11/potd/1201524175_16.jpg -S- 18:55, August 9, 2011 (UTC)

Its still very blue. You think itd look ok next to the rest of the site? Dorgles 19:25, August 9, 2011 (UTC)
Alright, heres it with that image you recommended http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/5594/example1v.jpg. Its still blue, but theres less white so its more tolerable. Dorgles 00:18, August 10, 2011 (UTC)
I like that. You might also put a black-gold gradient over JC's part of the background and see how that looks too. -S- 00:52, August 10, 2011 (UTC)
For me that blue area completely breaks the Golden-Black theme of this wiki. It will be much better to see a golden-black image instead of blue one. -- Snfonseka (Talk) 07:12, August 10, 2011 (UTC)
what image would you suggest for the right side? Should it be a person or a location? Dorgles 14:24, August 10, 2011 (UTC)
This one looks nice. Should the background stay transparent or should it just be solid black? Dorgles 14:59, August 10, 2011 (UTC)
I say either give the background a colour or darken the image because the image is currently too prominent for me. —Shidou T/C 22:30, August 10, 2011 (UTC)
Whether it is location or character it should support goldern-black theme of this site. The current colour of the right side image, breaks the entire sites' uniqueness. -- Snfonseka (Talk) 04:05, August 11, 2011 (UTC)

New way to publish news Edit

Now without a hassle you can add news to the site. Just create a blog and write your news and categorize it as "News" -- Snfonseka (Talk) 13:23, August 17, 2011 (UTC)

Size of the background image Edit

Background

As seen on the image, when the screen resolution is high (1920x1080), background image is shown like that. As for other Wikis it is better if we can put an higher resolution image (recommend: 1900x1200) for background. Is it possible to do so? -- Snfonseka (Talk) 13:23, August 19, 2011 (UTC)

Milwaukee hostages have a timer Edit

I was playing Deus Ex human revolution and I was told the the hostages were aready dead when I was in the chopper, but everyone online seems to say that the hostages can be save without too much difficalty. I think they died because I screwed around to much before the mission. If someone can commfirm that the hostages do have a timer, then there should be a warning placed in the walkthrough

Yes. If you wait too long before going to the factory, they'll be dead befor you even arrive. Sarif even tells you to hurry up over the Infolink several times. -S- 14:13, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

Colour SchemeEdit

Any chance of changing this to white on black rather than black on white? Aesthetically, I can see why white-on-black was chosen, but for reading most people prefer black-on-white. I'm a capable copy editor and I'm willing to spend time proofreading and correcting, but not in white-on-black. What do other people think?

I personally like this color scheme better, it suits the aesthetic of DXHR more. And I disagree that black on white is easier to read. If anything, it strains your eyes a lot more since white is the brightest color; being the equivalent to having a flashlight constantly shined into your eyes. But no, the white background wouldn't fit this wiki at all. -- ResistanZ 19:39, May 21, 2012 (UTC)

The DX:HR comic seriesEdit

There's a lot of information that can be added to the wiki from the comics, if anyone is interested. -- ResistanZ 19:31, May 21, 2012 (UTC)

Nevermind, I was being stupid. There is information from the comics in here already. I assumed there wasn't because I tried looking up "dragon fire implant" and saw that it wasn't an entry. My bad. -- ResistanZ 20:54, May 21, 2012 (UTC)

Adding Citations Edit

I thought it would be great to add citations to the pages.  I often come onto the pages to get little bits of info and have noticed things written that I don't recall ever being seen in game or in a novel or comic.  I don't know where the authors got their information from so that why I haven't done any editing myself.

Do we want to add a timer to the front page again?  I know it's still like, 9 months away, but I still can't wait!
