Nathaniel Brown is a billionaire business mogul, and the CEO of the construction company, Santeau Group. Following the Aug Incident in 2027, Brown vows to make 'safe havens' for augmented people where they can be free to live and work without discrimination. He calls this the Safe Harbour Initiative. One such city is called Rabi'ah. Due to his support of augmentations and his work on Rabi'ah, Brown has become involved in social politics about the technology.[1]
Nathaniel Brown believes that an arcological design for cities, not just Rabi'ah, is the future. Arcologies, as Brown envisions them, would be designed to be "zero-footprint and fully self-sufficient."[2] As an art connoisseur, Brown plans to open an art gallery in Rabi'ah and to give incentives to augmented artists to come and work there.[3]
In 2029, Brown is targeted by the Illuminati conspirators because, unlike Talos Rucker, he has the power and money to kill the Human Restoration Act, which the conspirators want to pass. He decided to hold a conference at London's Apex Centre to focus on his Safe Harbour Initiative and to urge people to not let the resolution pass. Despite being told that terrorists were planning to attack during this conference, he pushed forward with the belief that canceling the conference would let the terrorists win.
Notes
- At the end of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, if the mission Protecting the Future is failed, Nathaniel Brown and the other delegates at his conference are poisoned by the Orchid.
- If one did SM03: The Mystery Augs, David Sarif informs Jensen that he is in London to meet with Brown. This meeting happens sometime before the conference as Brown, on first meeting Jensen, will state that Sarif mentioned him.
