J. Allred is the senior physician of the Free Clinic in Hell's Kitchen mentioned in Deus Ex. A computer with his account can be found in the examining area of the Free Clinic.
Biography[]
Allred was a veteran of a war that took place in Texas, which Allred recalled as a situation where "there was nothing but wounded people." Later, as a lead physician with the Hell's Kitchen Free Clinic, Allred was put in a similarly tough situation when the Gray Death pandemic hit New York City. Since the Gray Death was not curable by conventional medicine, the clinic could not help patients other than to give them hydration until they crash-out. Under deteriorating circumstances, Allred nonetheless urged the clinic's staff to "pull through."

- During the first visit to Hell's Kitchen, an unnamed doctor can be encountered in the examining area. This doctor will offer JC Denton a discount if JC helps resolve an issue with a patient. However, there is no confirmation that this unnamed doctor is J. Allred. The emails in the clinic's computers, including emails written by J. Allred that appear during the third visit to Hell's Kitchen, are not affected if the unnamed doctor is killed during the first visit.
- The description of the war taking place in Texas, which appears in an email on Alice Priest's computer written by J. Allred, is a remanent of a cut plotline concerning a war between the United States and the Russo-Mexican Alliance. This conflict was an important part of the plot of the Shooter: Majestic Revelations precursor, which would have featured missions in Texas pertaining to the war. However, the Russo-Mexican Alliance was entirely cut from the final game, along with the war, except for this one mention of a war taking place Texas, without mention of the factions involved,
