An item bar with ten slots is displayed on the bottom of the screen (optional). In the PC version of the game, the items in each of these slots can be equipped or used with the number keys 1-9 and 0.
Consumable items that occupy slots on the bar will continue to occupy it, but turn red when the last item is used. Why that is, or how to remove these red icons is unknown.
The HUD includes a minimap that appears on the bottom left hand corner of the screen. It displays information such as objective markers and nearby NPCs. Friendly NPCs are represented by green arrows while hostile NPCs are represented by red ones.
While in combat, the border around the map will turn red, and the word "hostile" will appear above it. Similarly, if hostile NPCs are merely alerted to Jensen's presence, but have not yet located him, the word "alarmed" will be displayed above the minimap.
