Ruck is a creature cut from the final version of Deus Ex: Invisible War.
Characteristics[]
The ruck is a transgenic military unit developed by VersaLife prior to the Collapse. Possibly derived from the "Papio ursinus ruacana", a subspecies of chacma baboon, the ruck was genetically and cybernetically altered for stronger night-vision and increased intelligence, though one of the scientists involved in the project noted that the intelligence of an average ruck was still lower than the intelligence of the average military or security bot.[1]
Towards the end of VersaLife's existence, the rucks had begun to be placed in active military units, but it was reported that most of the military handlers found it necessary to sedate the beasts when not in combat.[1]
