IFF (acronym for "identification, friend or foe") is a pre-installed, non-upgradable augmentation in Deus Ex that identifies friends and foes. JC Denton is equipped with this nanotechnological augmentation at the start of the game.
Description[]
Automatic friend or foe identification uses advanced heuristic algorithms to associate visible objects with known threat categories. Targeting reticle highlights RED over enemies, and GREEN over allies and neutrals.
Effects[]
The IFF augmentation automatically causes the on-screen crosshair (targeting reticle) to appear red when pointed at enemies, green when pointed at allies, and white when pointed at neutrals.
The IFF is always enabled (without requiring manual activation) and does not use any bioelectric energy.
