Wine is a consumable item in Deus Ex: Human Revolution. It appears under three brands:

  • Great Wall Red Chardonnay
  • Nohname Cabernet Sauvignon
  • Ernest Oaks Chardonnay.

Descriptions[]

"The Great Wall Vineyards genetically modified Chardonnay grapes to produce a red vintage. With hints of citrus and pepper-petroleum finish, it perfectly compliments any endangered meat." - Great Wall Red Chardonnay

"Unknown to any but the most discriminating oenologists, Nohname's Cabernet Sauvignon will not leave you looking for the spit bucket. What more needs to be said?" - Nohname Cabernet Sauvignon

"Nothing says Chardonnay like an Ernest Oaks Chardonnay. With a bouquet that will bring tears to your eyes, it should be served at ambient temperature, and out of a brown paper bag." - Ernest Oaks Chardonnay

Characteristics[]

When consumed, wine refills 15 health points, except for the Great Wall Red Chardonnay which only replenishes 10. This can raise the players health up to the maximum of 200.  Similar to other methods of healing, this effect is temporary; it won't deplete automatically, but also will not regenerate past 100.

It is not as common as beer, but is more often seen than whiskey and vodka.

Alcoholic beverages will imbue the drinker with a small increase in damage resistance.  Adverse effects will include blurred vision. Each additional beverage consumed (or the greater potency of a single beverage) will increase this effect.

Notes[]

  • Despite the in-game descriptions, all healing agents grant double the listed effect if the player is injured (<100hp) - in this case, 30/20 health points per use.
  • Additionally, when an injured player consumes such an item, and the healing effect surpasses 100, the players health will automatically increase to what it would have been if the player consumed such an item at standard health (100) - in this case, to 115/110 health points.
    • Translation; if the player currently has 71+ health points, a bottle of Nohname will heal to 115, meaning a maximum of 44 points may be healed, despite a listed healing effect of only 15 points.
    • It is not known whether this is a bug or the intended result.
