EMP Grenade Capture 1

The Pulsar Type E Electromag Grenade, or EMP Grenade, is a weapon in Deus Ex: Human Revolution. EMP grenades are throwable weapons used primarily to neutralize bots and mechanically augmented humans, similar to the previous games in the series. One EMP Grenade can eliminate an 80-X Boxguard. EMP Grenades can be combined with Mine Templates to create EMP Mines.

EMP Grenades can first be found outside the FEMA Camp, where a Motor City Bangers member will sell one EMP grenade and one Gas Grenade for 400 credits.

In-game description[]

Use: Permanently disable robots and security devices. Temporarily impede augmented opponents.

Warning!: The EMP Shielding Augmentation upgrade completely negates the effect of EMP grenades.

Description: A Hand-thrown device, the Pulsar Type E Electromagnetic Grenade is a specialized anti-systems grenade, capable of generating a localized electromagnetic field pulse that renders nearby electronic circuitry inoperative. While it has no effect against organic targets, the grenade is extremely useful in disabling robots, augmented humans, security cameras, and automated defensive turrets.

Upgrades: The Pulsar Type E cannot be upgraded, but can be turned into a highly effective "EMP Mine" when combined with the Mark 87 Tactical Munition Mine Template.

Manufacturer: Steiner-Bisley GmbH.

Notes[]

  • EMP Mines created via combining a Template with an EMP Grenade actually deals less damage to enemies than a standard EMP Grenade would, as it takes 2-3 point-blank EMP Mine discharges to destroy a 80-X Boxguard while said unit can be disabled with just one EMP Grenade.
  • When hit by an EMP blast when low on health, Jensen will die instead of being stunned like other enemies. This is likely due to gameplay reasons, or it could simply be because Jensen is heavily augmented and all augmentations which help sustain his life are jammed by the shock.
