There are two kinds of administrator on the Deus Ex Wiki - regular admins (also called sysops) and bureaucrats. The difference between administrators and bureaucrats is that bureaucrats can give and revoke other people's user rights.

Admin powers include:

  • Deleting and undeleting pages, page histories and uploaded files.
  • Protecting pages, so they cannot be edited or renamed by users without admin rights or who have not been autoconfirmed.
  • Banning users from editing.
  • Quick rollback of undesirable edits.
  • Editing the interface by changing system messages and skins.

Adminship request

If you want to become an admin, you may ask an active bureaucrat directly on their message wall, as well as any active admins. You should describe why you would like to become an admin and what your major contributions have been so far. The criteria for being considered for adminship are as follows:

  • Have a minimum of 200 edits that are largely substantial and high-quality. Message wall, forum, and blog posts will not count towards this edit minimum.
  • Be familiar with the wiki's policies and guidelines.
  • Not have recently received an editing ban on this wiki.
  • Desirable but not required: having helped maintain the wiki by undoing vandalism or marking pages or files that are unneeded for deletion.

The community is free to give their opinion and influence the final decision. The final decision will be up to active admins and bureaucrats.

Administratorship is not a reward for good contributions nor a promotion to have more authority than other users. An admin is a user who is being trusted with access to certain technical features to aid in maintenance. Not everybody who meets the requirements will automatically become an administrator; admins are appointed on a per-need basis.

If there are no active admins or bureaucrats for a long period of time, please contact the Fandom Community Central staff.

Inactive and retired admins

Admins who have not made a contribution to the wiki for more than a year are considered inactive. If you need to contact an administrator, prioritize contacting those considered active.

Admins or bureaucrats who have not made a contribution to the wiki for four or more years will have their users rights automatically removed, and be labelled as retired. If a retired admin returns to the wiki, they can discuss with active admins and bureaucrats about having their user rights restored.
