Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut was released on October 22, 2013 for Wii U and October 25 for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.

It features an integration of the three DLCs found in the original version and an overhaul of all the boss battles. It also features approximately 8 hours of director's commentaries and a 45 minute “Making Of” video.

Features Summary[]

The Director's Cut has the following new features:

  • DLC is now fully integrated into the base game
  • Yellow filter is removed
  • Option to start a New Game + where previously selected Augmentations will carry over. Weapons from the previous playthrough will be gone.
  • Overhauled boss battle levels, now enabling players with stealth build to have an easier way to kill the bosses.
  • 45 Minute "Making Of" video
  • Around 8 hours of commentary from Eidos Montreal
  • Jensen will be able to regenerate two energy cells on all but the hardest difficulty

Changes[]

Overhauled Boss Battles[]

Boss fights were changed to provide the player more options to deal with bosses, depending on how the player developed their character. Most notably, new options were added for hacking/stealth characters which enable players to hack turrets to help them against the bosses.

Gameplay Differences[]

On the two easier difficulties, Tell Me A Story and Give Me A Challenge, two energy cells will automatically regenerate instead of one. This makes the two difficulties easier overall. After completing the game, the player will have the option to start a "New Game +". This lets players carry over their augmentations to the new game. Weapons do not carry over. Players are now able to interact with mission NPC's during an infolink conversation. In the original release, players had to wait for the conversation to be over before being able to interact with the NPC.

"Making Of" Video[]

A roughly 45 minute "Making Of" video is included.

PC Porting Differences[]

Nixxes, the studio responsible for porting the original Deus Ex: Human Revolution to Windows did not port the Director's Cut.[1] This difference causes the Director's Cut to have a larger file size and be laggy on some systems.
